CAREER HIGHLIGHTS & BIOGRAPHY:
Career highlights would have to
start with any races that I have won!! There is nothing like winning.
A huge highlight of my career happened in July
2009 when my manager called to inform me that Turner Motorsports wanted to sign me to run USARacing Pro Cup for them in 2010. Being
15 years old and having a race team ask you to race their equipment
in a high profile series like USAR Pro Cup leaves you speechless!!
I have had the good fortune of doing a lot of things and meeting
a lot of people to this point in my life, but without being strapped
in a race seat none have been bigger than that phone call. I will
never forget the moment or the people involved!
Specifically as I mentioned as my greatest achievement,
winning the World Series of Asphalts was amazing. I had only been
racing Late Models for six months when my team entered me in the
World Series to get more seat time and practice. Being 13 years
old, I actually was not supposed to be entered. (The age limit
starts at 14, but the promoters allowed me in based on my racing
resume and the fact that I had won my first Late Model race 4
months and 17 days after turning 13. The first ever Late Model
win came at Lanier National Speedway the second time I ever raced
my Super Late Model.) My competition at the World Series was a
lot of guys much older than me, many who had been racing longer
than I had been alive. There were six races during the week. We
started 16th the first night and finished 6th. We followed that
with 3 wins in a row, a 4th and a 3rd. (I have to admit, we were
points racing the last 2 nights and didn't take many chances.)
All of that resulted in me winning the 42nd Annual World Series
of Asphalt ASA/Crate Late Model Championship. I will absolutely
never forget that week!! Winning at New Smyrna did more for me
than just giving me a bunch of trophies to take home. The team's
success at New Smyrna allowed me to meet a lot of people in the
racing industry that I might have never met or would have had
to wait for a long time to get to be around and know.
In July 2007 I was asked to appear in the "Where
Will They Be" article in the Sports Illustrated double issue that always features the "Where Are They Now"
article. It was really cool, because included in the "Where
Are They Now" article was Richard Petty! On July 30, 2008
I was asked to sign a management contract by Motorsports Management
International. That was a huge event in my racing career! Then,
I was contacted about being included in the NASCAR Media Group
production of "NASCAR Confidential - The Next Generation"
that was produced for the SPEED Channel. In addition, there have
been many other magazine articles, TV show and radio shows in
which I have been included. All of those things are great and
a big part of getting to make and meet fans, and I am very grateful
for the opportunities. However, none of it is as much fun as climbing
behind the wheel of a race car and going racing!!
I started racing quarter midgets at age 8. From
quarter midgets, I progressed through mini-cups, bandoleros and
Pro Challenge. When I turned 13, I raced both legend's cars and
Late Models for just under 3 months before parking the legend's
car. (We raced in 14 legend's races during that short period and
accumulated 3 feature wins!) From there, it's been all Late Model
and Super Late Model racing until getting to run the last three
races of the 2009 USAR Pro Cup series in preparation for the 2010
season and our run for the championship! |
