CAREER HIGHLIGHTS & BIOGRAPHY:
Cap Henry is a 17-year-old junior
high school student that has been racing for over ½ of
his life. He began racing go-karts at the age of 6 years old,
and has been racing for 11 years. In those 11 years he has won
over 100 races on everything from dirt to asphalt and from oval
karts to road racing karts, from micro sprint cars to Kenyon Midgets,
and now a 305 sprint car. He has participated in the WKA, SKUSA,
Cart Stars Of Karting, and USAC. He was a ¼ final round
competitor in the 2004 Red Bull Drivers search.
His accomplishments in the last 10 months include
Qualifying in the top 5 in the King Taco 80 cc Shifter class in
the stars of karting west coast series, finishing in the top 10
in 4 of the 5 events run. He then returned to the Midwest to run
in the USAC Kenyon Midget Division winning 1 heat race, leading
one feature, and finishing 13th out of 23 drivers having only
running 5 events of the series. Cap also ran an asphalt 305 full
size sprint car at Sandusky Speedway 2 times in the fall of 2005
with a finishing 4th out of 8 in the heat race, making it straight
to the A-main in which he finished 16th out of 25 starters.
His second event in the 305 sprint car garnered
the then 15 year old driver his first ever heat race win in his
second start, at the Sandusky Speedway Cavalcade, their biggest
event of the year. He DNF in the feature being taken out by another
driver on the first lap, resulting in a heavily damaged racecar,
finishing the teams 2005 season.
Winter of 2005 found the driver setting 2nd quick
time to his teammate and event winner John Ivy at the USAC Rumble
in Ft. Wayne event in the Winged 600cc Outlaw Midget division.
He DNF in the feature with a chain issue.
Cap returned to Sandusky Speedway Asphalt 305
Sprint racing in 2006 with a new car, beginning the year with
a 4th place finish in his first heat race, and a second place
finish in the main event leading laps 16 through 24, being passed
on the last lap by the much more experienced 2005 track champion
Todd Buchanan. The second event of the year resulted in another
4th place heat race finish, and a 16th overall main event finish
having started 16th. Cap then returned to the seat of a go kart
for the first time in almost a year running 2nd to his engine
builder in a very hotly contested race at Fremont Raceway Park
on the 1/10 mile asphalt oval, in which he had to battle from
the back to the front on at least one occasion. The end of June
2006 found the driver competing on the dirt for the very first
time in a sprint car at Fremont Speedway, Fremont, Ohio during
the All-Stars Circuit Of Champions 2006 sprint speed week. 40
cars had signed in for 20 starting positions in the main event.
Though the team did not make the main event the driver impressed
many of the regular drivers as he quickly adapted to the track
and the new driving style, holding many of them off during hot
laps, his one heat race and the B-main.
His B-main consisted of many of the A-main regulars
like Doug Berryman, Brad Bowman, Chris Andrews and Dustin Dinan.
He finished where he started in 9th place. The team was more than
pleased with this debut. July will find the driver competing 3
to 4 times on the dirt, going to Attica Raceway Park for the first
time on Friday July 7th, and returning to Fremont Speedway July
8th. The remainder of the July's schedule as to whether the team
will return to asphalt or stay on the dirt has yet to be determined.
The young driver is scheduled for Bob Bondurant School Of High
Performance Driving 4 day Grand Prix School July 24 through the
27th in C-5 Corvettes and Bondurant Super Grand Prix Cars. This
should further enhance his over all driving skills and further
his abilities to drive in all types of cars on all types of terrains
be it dirt or asphalt, oval or road course.
